The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, Delta State branch, has called on good spirited individuals to continue to support its humanitarian efforts, saying that this became necessary following the dynamics faced by the Red Cross Movement in carrying out its services.
Delta State Chairman of the society, Mr. Adolphus Anuagasi, who stated this while delivering his welcome address during the grand finale of the 2018 World Red Cross Day in Asaba, explained that the “NRCS is an auxiliary to the government which has intervened and managed various conflicts and disaster situations in Delta and the country as a whole.”
He said that the theme of the 2018 World Red Cross Day celebration, which is Everywhere for Everyone: Smile, was apt, given the fact that the Red Cross movement is about alleviating human sufferings and putting smiles on the faces of the vulnerable.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr Andrew Uwaje, on his part said “the NRCS passion to serve humanity is evident in how the organisation has impacted the lives of the vulnerable.”
The head Sub-Delegation of the International Committee of Red Cross, Mr.Tim Ros said the organisation advocates on behalf of the vulnerable and it is currently active in 191 countries in the world, adding:”Red Cross movement is a sure sign of hope and members are obligated to reflect same one their attitudes.”
